It may be old news to extreme sports aficionados by now but the Unfinished Business movie which premiered last year has been a great collection to our Showreel and basically just a damn cool project and is still being received well and screened at film festivals in different parts of the world.
Designed by the uber-awesome team at Refresh Creative Media, we needed to create a soundtrack that works with the actions on screen (Base jumping, Mountain Climbing and Wind Surfing) and it features original tracks written specifically for the movie by the energetic lads here at HeyPapaLegend Sound Studios.
If you like to see people jump off cliffs, climb sans ropes on the sheer face of a mountain, or fly through the air attached to a kite and a surf board then this movie is for you. The soundtrack brings in elements of punk, metal and electro in order to match these crazy dudes doing crazy things on screen.
Create Gritty Shots Reel Ident
The intro to Shots 119, filmed by Ryan Isted of Velocity Films, grinds in true Tarantino style to a music track by Cape Town’s HeyPapaLegend Studios. The soundtrack, written by Ross McDonald and brother Myles McDonald of HeyPapaLegend Studios, is this new studio’s debut Shots appearance. The track features Dan Shout from Jonny Clegg on sax, Doc Mike Levy from The Rudimentals on guitars, Devin Jones from 7th Son on drums, and the McDonalds on sundry other instruments.

People say “the industry is in Jo’burg”.
Well, us Capetonians always try to defend the mother city by saying “but the creative people are here” and “look at the mountain!”…well, anyone who lives in Cape Town and speaks any truth will tell you that although the mountain is beautiful, sometime the mines do call.
The past year and a bit has been absolutely amazing here at HeyPapaLegend Cape Town and we’ve had the pleasure of working with some amazingly creative and talented people…but…its time to flex our biceps, crack our knuckles and move into the heart of “the industry”. Jo’burg (or as my good friend, Jody “the five star”, from The Rudimentals calls it…”Sin City”) here we come.
So we’re opening up HeyPapaLegend Sound Jo’burg. We couldn’t be doing it without the help of the amazing and super jacked-up people at Deepend Post, as they’ve lent us their support and out of all the recording studios they could’ve partnered with…they chose us. Sweet!
This is not us saying goodbye to Cape Town, we have a philosophy of one studio 2 locations, and to all our current 021 clients and loved ones, it might appear that we are almost in two places at once. Have we been cloned? Have we invented teleportation or time travel? Naaa…Its just how we roll! Because our strength lies in our collective talents pooled together and we’d never break that up.
Cheers,
Ross
We’d like to welcome you to our new website!
We’ve spent some time working closely with Refresh Creative Media in redesigning our Corporate Identity and building a new website which reflects the look and feel we’re going for.
What are we going for?…
Old school, old school, old school! We’ve put together an image that reflects the people that work here and since we’ve got such vast differences in taste and style we’ve tried to marry the ‘vintage’ to the ‘modern’…
And the result?…
What you see before your eyes!
Please enjoy our website and don’t forgot to peruse our Showreel to see what kind of work we do at HeyPapaLegend.
